作為央視推出的牌面文化類節目 ，由董卿擔任主持人 、武磊製片人和總導演的参央成国《朗讀者》開播以後積累了不俗的口碑，所邀請到的视朗加賓都是各行業具有正能量的代表人物 。此前 ，读者第季鄭智也曾經登上過《朗讀者》節目 ，录制朗讀《大路之歌》。足第
此次武磊參與節目錄製 ，牌面也成為了第二位登上央視綜藝節目《朗讀者》的國足球員 。他閱讀的作品是網絡著名作家今何在的代表作《悟空傳》 ，該作品曾享有“網絡第一書”的美譽 ，2017年曾被翻拍成電影。“人生最有價值的時刻 ，不是最後的功成名就” ，這是武磊在這部書中的感悟 。
此前體育領域也曾經有人登上過該節目。第一季中 ，中國女排名將趙蕊蕊曾經朗讀了畢淑敏的《握緊你的右手》，女排主帥郎平分享了勃蘭兌斯的《人生》；第二季中，昔日籃球名將姚明朗讀了海明威的名作《真實的高貴》 ，體操王子李寧 、圍棋世界冠軍柯潔、拳擊冠軍鄒市明也都曾經登上過這檔節目。
在第三季的48位嘉賓當中 ，除了武磊之外 ，還包括莫言 、張桂梅、羅翔 、潘文石 、周迅 、崔道植等各界大咖 。
