Google's upcoming Pixel 4a 5G apparently isn't going to be just a Pixel 4a with added 5G.
According to fresh renders of the device based on leaked information, courtesy of leaker OnLeaks and 91mobiles, the upcoming phone will have two camera sensors on the back, compared to the regular 4a's single sensor. The Pixel 4a 5G also hosts an "unknown" sensor on the back, located in the camera bump.
If accurate, this is a pretty big deal. The Pixel 4a has an adequate camera but it could certainly benefit from another sensor (the now-deprecated Pixel 4 had a secondary, telephoto lens capable of 2x optical zoom).
Other than that, the Pixel 4a 5G is a dead ringer for both its predecessor and the upcoming Pixel 5, which was "unveiled" in a similar set of renders last week — a punch-hole selfie camera on the front, a rectangular camera bump and a fingerprint sensor on the back. In fact, the only discernible differences between the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5 are the number of rear camera sensors – two versus three – and a slightly livelier back design on the Pixel 5.
There is another, important difference, though it's hard to see it just by looking at these renders. According to OnLeaks, the Pixel 4a 5G will have a large, 6.1-inch or 6.2-inch display, making it the largest Pixel to launch this year. Google's Pixel 4a has a 5.8-inch display, and the Pixel 5 is likely to be similarly sized.
SEE ALSO:Google Pixel 5 leak suggests an earlier launch dateOther tidbits of note include a USB-C port on the bottom surrounded by two speakers, and a plastic unibody design. No other significant details were revealed.
According to an earlier leak, the Pixel 4a 5G is likely to come on September 30 in black, while a white version of the phone should launch sometime in October.
