《馬卡報》對金球獎進行了一番盤點 ，马配表示隻有範巴斯滕（3次） 、金球奖已经说普拉蒂尼（3次） 、过多克魯伊夫（3次） 、C羅（5次）和梅西（7次）獲得金球獎的次數要多過大羅，因此外星人所說的話是極具分量的。
而事實上 ，金球獎在變更評選標準之後 ，將更注重個人的表現 ，並且評選周期隻在本賽季 。如果盤點個人表現 ，那麽本賽季能與本澤馬競爭的球員屈指可數 ，隻有萊萬多夫斯基 、薩拉赫 、姆巴佩、凱恩 、哈蘭德可以與其比較。但上述幾人當中 ，隻有薩拉赫所在的利物浦仍在歐冠中 ，其他人的團隊榮譽並不占優 ，因此綜合來看 ，本澤馬的確是今年金球獎的最大熱門 。
