俄羅斯足協此前曾向國際體育仲裁法庭提出上訴，回禁雖然得到了受理，彻底但是无缘在上個月則是被告知駁回了暫停禁賽處罰的請求 。據悉 ，官方在上個月底 ，俄羅斯足協告知國際體育仲裁法庭 ，表示將撤回上訴請求 ，終止上訴程序 ，這也意味著俄羅斯國家隊將徹底無緣卡塔爾世界杯 。
在俄羅斯 、波蘭 、瑞典 、捷克組成的歐洲區附加賽小組中 ，俄羅斯被判出局 ，波蘭不戰而勝 。隨後 ，波蘭又在決賽中2-0擊敗了淘汰捷克的瑞典隊 ，波蘭隊最終獲得了卡塔爾世界杯決賽圈的一個席位。
