另外 ，世界赛相16強賽將分為兩個半區 ，1A-2B 、1C-2D 、1E-2F 、1G-2H在同一個半區；1B-2A 、1D-2C 、1F-2E 、1H-2G在另一個半區 。
因此 ，外界所關注的“梅羅”能否在世界杯賽場對決也有了答案 ：阿根廷在C組 、葡萄牙在H組 ，如果兩隊都以小組第一或小組第二出線 ，將會分在不同半區 ，隻可能在決賽相遇；如果兩隊出線的小組名次不同 ，那有可能提前在半決賽遇見。
