Lifetime's creepy stalker drama You hit Netflix just over three weeks ago — and according to the streaming service, that move is working out for everyone involved.
Per a post on one of Netflix's official Twitter accounts, the Penn Badgley-starring drama is "on track to be viewed by more than 40 million" users in its first month of streaming.
The striking number comes less than a month after the reported success of Bird Box, which Netflix claims was viewed by 45 million accounts in its first week. Notably, these numbers cannot be 100% confirmed by outside sources, but Nielsen ratings seemingly verified Netflix's publishedBird Boxnumbers shortly after they were posted.
Releasing viewership data is not standard practice for streaming services, but publicly and selectively bragging about major victories can serve the company's interest. Not only does this let potential Hollywood collaborators know about the size of the streaming giant's audience, but it also serves as a not-so-subtle wave to Wall Street folks looking to make another big investment.

The thread containing the Youviewership numbers also shouted out the successes of two other Netflix original series, the sex-positive British comedy Sex Education and the Spanish language teen drama Elite. The former is on pace to hit the same numbers as You, while the latter is set to hit the 20 million viewership mark in its first four weeks.

Keep your eyes peeled for verification on these numbers and, if you're one of the few folks left out, get to streaming these runaway hits.
You, Sex Education, and Eliteare all streaming on Netflix now.
