萊基說道 ：“9月 、中澳战因10月和11月會非常忙 ，防疫有3個國際比賽日窗口 ，规定這在正常情況下都是不参相當困難的 。如今因為疫情 ，加月我們前往國家隊集訓比賽10天後 ，世预赛回國隔離兩周 ，利亚最多隻能在家待上1周 ，队长然後又要重新做一遍，亲承缺席3個月重複3次 ，中澳战因我隔離的防疫時間可能比待在家裏的時間還要長 。”
“我們剛從德國回來 ，规定隻是想安頓下來 ，我們還有很多事情要做 ，我不想離開我的家人 。但海外旅行以及隔離時間的相關規定難以預測 ，如果相關政策隨著疫情形勢的變化而發生變化的話 ，我會隨機應變的 ，目前我的決定僅僅是針對9月與中國以及越南的比賽 ，下個月的時候我會重新評估情況 。”
萊基現年30歲 ，是澳大利亞隊過去數年的主力前鋒 ，隨隊參加了前兩屆世界杯並打滿6場小組賽 ，他在兩個月前被任命為澳大利亞國家隊隊長。
