This is a real dilemma.
The map in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis so dense with cool stuff to find that a Google Maps-style interface would be helpful. But to browse the map in that way is to spoil parts of the game.

Definitely don't spoil yourself. Go ahead and finish the story, then indulge your curiosity. The interactive map I'm referring to -- found at ZeldaMaps.com -- isn't going anywhere, and it'll be very useful when you inevitably return to the game to explore further after you defeat Ganon.
Browsing around is as simple as clicking and dragging. If you've ever used Google Maps before -- that's everyone now, right? -- you'll instinctively know what to do.
While the map is easy to use, it also isn't quite finished. The goal is to eventually chronicle every point of interest: from gear to shrines and quest locations to boss-level threats scattered throughout the open world. There's a lot listed already, but expect the number of markings to grow over time.
As someone who's finished the game, I spent some time poking around the map without fear of spoilers. I'll definitely be using it to find my way back to points of interest that I wasn't smart enough to mark in-game with a stamp.
The long-term goal of this project -- which is a joint endeavor between Hyrule Legends and Zelda Universe -- is to eventually recreate the maps from every Zeldagame to date.
