After several "safety tests" that involved smashing the bridge with sledgehammers and driving an SUV over it, the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon bridge in China finally opened to the public over the weekend.

Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, the 430 metres long and 6 metres wide bridge is suspended a heart-stopping 300 meters above a valley.

As many tourists crowded on the bridge to take in the scenic views, some also took the chance to have a little fun.

A few lay down on the bridge to take selfies, while others performed acrobatic stunts for that perfect photo op.

The kicker of the lot is these two hilarious kids who pretended to look terrified as they "fell." Almost got us fooled for a second.
