28歲的合同后解巴克利2018年1月以1500萬鎊的轉會費從埃弗頓加盟切爾西，並獲得了藍軍傳奇蘭帕德的邮报约8號球衣，但他在切爾西的清洗切表現高開低走，從第一個賽季的失败出場常客逐漸淪為邊緣球員，過去兩個賽季在英超僅為切爾西出場共215分鍾，西全期間還被租借至阿斯頓維拉尋找狀態。额支

報道指出，付巴在做出解約決定之前，切爾西無法以任何形式將巴克利轉出，因此隻好全額支付最年一年合同薪資以啟動解約條款。
