北京時間12月24日，特塔谈奥阿森納主教練阿爾特塔在接受采訪時談到了奧巴梅揚，巴梅他表示保持尊重和信守承諾是扬保他最看重的事，如果做不到的持尊話，那還是重重做不走人走人算了。

阿爾特塔表示：“我不是到请一個不近人情的人，我不會通過這樣的特塔谈奥方式來建立我的權威。我要求球員們保持尊重，巴梅信守承諾，扬保就這麽簡單。持尊做不到的重重做不走人話，那幹脆趁早打包行李，到请自己走人算了。特塔谈奥我希望俱樂部裏的巴梅每個人都做到這兩點。首先當然是扬保我自己，如果有一天我沒達到我說的要求，我立刻就走人，離開阿森納。”

此前，由於紀律問題，奧巴梅揚被剝奪了阿森納隊長袖標，缺席球隊的近四場比賽。
