Shopping trolleys have feelings too.
One Australian man opened up his heart and taken in a lone, abandoned trolley that appeared on his doorstep last week.
Andrew Mitchell from Melbourne, Victoria let the trolley's owner, Officeworks, know about its whereabouts on its Facebook page on Sunday. It was his final attempt to get the trolley returned after the office supply store had failed to pick it up.
"Hi Mr Officeworks, this guy decided to move into my front yard. I don't know his name or what to feed him but he seems to like living here," Mitchell wrote.
"I doubt I can keep him as I have no need for mass transportable storage so i phoned your Werribee store to come and collect him. Three days later he was still at our front door and was getting frightened because he thought you didn't love him anymore."
To help cheer the trolley up, Mitchell named it Trevor and took it on all sorts of wild escapades. Trevor was likely having a bad time because he wasn't lugging goods in a store like he usually does and had been separated from his like-minded trolley friends.
During his time off, Trevor learned some new skills by helping out with chores such as mowing the lawn and walking the dog. He also managed to take some time out for fun, playing with a doll's house.

"Now Trevor is playing with a doll house. I don't want to judge or give him any gender issues," Mitchell wrote on Facebook.Credit: facebook/officeworksHowever, Trevor's adventures were short-lived, with staff from Officeworks finally getting around to picking up the trolley that they had been missing for quite some time. It is now safe and sound after taking the "long roll back" to his friends and family.
"Trevor will now undergo intensive counselling to ensure he’s ready to go back to work," a representative from the company wrote on Facebook. "He’s asked us to thank Andrew Mitchell for teaching him how to take selfies, mow the lawn & walk the dog and for taking such good care of him."
As someone relatively wise on the Internet once said, not all heroes wear capes.
