在選帥一事上 ，自己滕哈格是滕哈曼聯新帥的第一人選 。在3月份 ，格黄滕哈格還曾參加過曼聯的曼联墨迹麵試 ，並且給曼聯高層留下了深刻的竟遭截胡印象 。而在前幾日 ，平民媒體甚至已經報道過 ，球队全赖滕哈格已經在挑選隨自己一道入主曼聯的自己教練團隊 ，並且還向曼聯高層提出了自己心中的滕哈引援人選 。然而如今 ，風向卻發生了180度的大轉折 。
《鏡報》表示 ，德甲球隊RB萊比錫正試圖截胡滕哈格 ，希望聘請他成為球隊的新任主帥 。據悉，RB萊比錫在數周前就已經與滕哈格展開了對話，並且如今開出了一份“搶劫銀行”一般的合同報價 。RB萊比錫相信 ，滕哈格可以改變俱樂部在國內賽場和國外賽場的形象 。
而據荷蘭方麵的消息稱 ，滕哈格正在嚴肅地考慮RB萊比錫的邀請。雖然這位52歲的教頭想要來曼聯執教 ，但是紅魔至今都沒有給他開出合同條款 ，這讓他感到十分失望 。
《鏡報》還指出，如果曼聯無緣滕哈格 ，那麽他們就得另尋一位正式主帥 ，波切蒂諾將被視為滕哈格之後最可能的繼任者。盡管在從歐冠出局之後 ，波切蒂諾在巴黎聖日耳曼的前景還尚不明朗 。
