《阿斯報》報道稱，亿人有竞在日本的选拔失利 ，讓這個世界上人口最多的不出國家失去了進入世界杯的可能性 ，關鍵是球队在比賽中看不到中國隊有任何的競爭力 。文章繼續表示，外媒無緣世界杯 ，关注国足這無疑是巨人對中國在足球發展道路上的又一次挫折打擊 ，近15億人口的再次争力超級大國竟然不足以選拔出一支有競爭力的國家隊 ，事實上 ，失败在近百年的亿人有竞世界杯曆史上 ，中國隻參加過一次 。
