《倫敦標準晚報》指出 ，歐足聯正在考慮驅逐俄羅斯 。如果被歐足聯驅逐的話 ，俄羅斯將會在國際足球體係中徹底失去根基 。此前就有俄羅斯媒體指出 ，在歐洲國家普遍抵製俄羅斯隊的情況下 ，俄羅斯應該考慮加入亞足聯 。俄羅斯國土麵積橫跨亞洲兩塊大陸 ，俄羅斯的確有資格要求轉而加入亞足聯 。但俄羅斯要想進入亞足聯就必須得到國際足聯的認可 ，而國際足聯也是製裁俄羅斯的主力軍 。
