The following contains spoilers for Only Murders in the Building Season 2, episode 8, "Hello Darkness."
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 has thrown a lot at us over its first seven episodes: a missing erotic painting, a bloody matchbook, and even Amy Schumer playing herself. But the biggest question that's arisen this season has to be: Who is Glitter Guy?
To recap: On the night Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell) died, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) received a mysterious text telling them to leave the building. They believe it was Detective Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph) warning them about the police's imminent arrival.

That might be the point.Charles, Oliver, and Mabel texted the number they thought belonged to Detective Williams, asking her to run the print. However, things got complicated when they found out that the texter couldn't be Detective Williams, because she was on maternity leave. This meant only one thing: The mysterious texter was also the killer.
The texter arranged to have the matchbook evidence left at a drop-off point, but the Only Murders trio surprised the mysterious figure with a glitter bomb instead — thus giving us the name "Glitter Guy." Glitter Guy managed to escape, but we've learned several things about him: First, that he is (or was, at one point) covered in glitter. Second, that he attacked Mabel, resulting in her stabbing him in the arm with a knitting needle. Third, that he works as a security guard at Coney Island.
And now, finally, at the end of Season 2's episode 8, "Hello Darkness," we know his identity: Glitter Guy is Detective Kreps (Michael Rapaport), one of the detectives working alongside Detective Williams on the Bunny case.
Mabel puts two and two together after Kreps shows up at the Arconia after a widespread blackout. Not only did he arrive on the scene suspiciously quickly, he also appears to have a sore spot on his arm, right where Mabel stabbed Glitter Guy. The nail in the coffin? Mabel spots some glitter behind the Detective's ear. You really can't get rid of glitter that easily.

Kreps has definitely been an antagonistic force this season, but why would he want to kill Bunny? Why would he try to frame Charles, Oliver, and Mabel? And why would he text them to get out of the Arconia the night Bunny died? On top of all that, we've only just met Kreps this season. It's more likely that Bunny's killer would be someone we met in Season 1 who also knew Bunny and our leads.
Kreps could still be involved in the murder — he is Glitter Guy, after all — but perhaps more as a sidekick to the actual killer. Think about it: Who's to say Glitter Guy and the person texting Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are definitely the same person? The texter, whose fingerprint is likely the one on the matchbook, could have called Kreps in for damage control. However, the way in which Kreps is linked to the killer is still unknown.

That being said, we have several prime suspects as to who killed Bunny. I'm still not trusting of any of the Arconia residents, including Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton) or Nina (Christine Ko), or of artist Alice (Cara Delevingne). And what about Cinda Canning (Tina Fey), who's been showing off her ruthless side all season long? Could she have committed murder in order to jumpstart a new podcast?
All will (hopefully) be revealed in Only Murders in the Building's final two episodes, but until then, we can hang on to the knowledge that Glitter Guy is Detective Kreps. The killer can't be too far behind.
