該新聞一出 ，未想英足總立馬發聲明進行了辟謠。取消他們明確表示 ，狮军沒有計劃對英格蘭比賽日體驗的团队基本環節進行任何改變。官方聲明中寫道 ：“與今天早上的火速報道相反 ，英足總仍然會在溫布利進行的主要比賽中播放《Three Lions》，而且從未打算對此進行調整 。”
