林加德的合同在明年夏天到期 ，曼聯不願看到球員免費離隊 ，因此為他提供了一份續約合同 ，周薪為13.5萬英鎊 。但對於林加德來說 ，接下來的重要目標是希望能隨英格蘭隊參加2022年卡塔爾世界杯 ，為此他必須在俱樂部中獲得更多更穩定的出場機會 。
考慮到林加德在曼聯隊內的現狀 ，林加德可能不會再和曼聯續約 。而曼聯則考慮在冬季轉會期將其出售 ，並且把對林加德的要價降低到了1500萬英鎊 。目前除了西漢姆之外，剛剛易主的紐卡斯爾 、以及萊斯特城等英超球隊都有意林加德。
