在昨天淩晨的2021年度金球獎評選中 ，萊萬多夫斯基不敵梅西 ，有戏得分580分，法国发金以33分的足球主编差距排名第二 ，這讓很多人為萊萬叫屈。可考

《法國足球》曾一度堅決地表示不會補發2020年的金球獎 ，但如今在接受采訪時 ，《法國足球》主編帕斯卡爾-費雷談到了補發的可能性 。
“我認為我們不需要著急做決定 。我們可以考慮它，同時也要尊重金球獎的傳統 ，那就是投票 。我們不能肯定萊萬就能贏得2020年的金球獎 ，因為當時沒有投票 。但老實說 ，他的贏麵很大 。梅西的想法很好也很聰明 。我今年的第一順位沒有投梅西 ，我投的是萊萬 ，但我認為梅西也配得上金球獎 。”
在昨天捧得金球獎後 ，梅西在發表獲獎感言時曾寄語萊萬 ，“我想表達一下我對萊萬的看法 。和你在一起競爭是莫大的榮耀 。去年的金球獎應該屬於你 ，你是2020年的贏家，每個人都知道且同意。我認為《法國足球》應該頒給你一座金球獎 ，因為這是你應得的 。”
