北京時間12月14日 ，西媒宣布新闻阿根廷球星阿圭羅目前受到心髒疾病的阿圭困擾，據西班牙《每日體育報》報道，退役阿圭羅已經決定退役 ，本周並且會在本周三舉行新聞發布會正式宣布這個消息 。召开
《每日體育報》稱：“阿圭羅被迫退役。发布正如過去一周的西媒宣布新闻一些媒體報道中指出的那樣 ，在確認自己所患的阿圭心律失常不是良性後 ，阿根廷人必須在33歲結束自己的退役職業生涯 。阿圭羅將在本周三（12月15日）舉行的本周新聞發布會上正式宣布退役的消息，俱樂部將借此機會向他告別 。召开”
阿圭羅在今夏和曼城合同到期 ，发布隨後自由加盟巴薩並簽約兩年 。西媒宣布新闻阿圭羅本想在巴薩和自己的阿圭好友梅西搭檔 ，不過在阿圭羅加盟巴薩後不久 ，退役梅西卻沒能續約，隻能離開巴薩去巴黎聖日耳曼踢球 。

在11月21日巴薩跟隊記者羅梅羅首先曝光阿圭羅決定退役 ，而如今巴薩喉舌媒體《每日體育報》也證實了這個消息 。不過阿圭羅本人沒有因此太過沮喪 ，上周末他還帶著女友一起到阿聯酋觀看F1賽車比賽 。
