據意大利媒體《米蘭體育報》報道 ，意媒若帕爾馬主帥馬雷斯卡下課 ，若帕那麽前廣州隊主帥卡納瓦羅 、尔马尔洛此前離任尤文的换帅和皮皮爾洛 、以及加圖索都有可能成為帕爾馬的卡纳新帥 。
上賽季 ，瓦罗帕爾馬從意甲降級。接任今夏 ，意媒“小將”布馮離開尤文 ，若帕回歸帕爾馬，尔马尔洛但新賽季帕爾馬開局戰績慘淡 ，换帅和皮目前7輪比賽過後 ，卡纳僅積9分，瓦罗排名意乙第12名 ，接任距離獲得升級名額還有很大的意媒距離 。其中，帕爾馬主帥馬雷斯卡的執教能力也遭到外界質疑 。
《米蘭體育報》表示 ，帕爾馬已經開始為馬雷斯卡尋找繼任者，並與市場上的幾位賦閑在家的教練進行了聯係，此前已與廣州隊解約的卡納瓦羅就是其中之一 。在球員時代 ，卡納瓦羅曾效力於帕爾馬 ，他為球隊出場過212次，贏得2座意大利杯冠軍、1座意大利超級杯冠軍和1座歐聯杯冠軍 ，是球隊的傳奇人物 。在之前的采訪中，卡納瓦羅曾公開表示過，自己會評估意乙球隊的邀請，有一家不錯的意乙球隊在他的選擇範圍之內 ，外界普遍認為他是在暗指帕爾馬 。
