今年夏天 ，拉波巴薩由於財政問題沒有選擇與梅西續約，尔塔阿根廷球星結束了21年的不排白紅藍生涯。本賽季 ，除梅在科曼下課之後 ，归巴巴薩迎來了一波功勳名宿回歸潮 ，拉波先是尔塔哈維回歸成為主教練 ，接著又是不排白傳奇右閘阿爾維斯的歸來 。
在阿爾維斯的除梅亮相儀式上，巴薩主席拉波爾塔還暗示 ，归巴並不排除梅西在未來的拉波某個時間也會回歸 ，同時還有夢三的尔塔另一位核心球員伊涅斯塔。
“我不能排除任何可能 。不排白這樣的除梅情況在達尼（阿爾維斯）身上發生了。年齡僅僅是归巴一個數字 ，他們兩位都是偉大的球員 。我不能預測明天會發生什麽 。他們仍然在踢球 ，並且和其它俱樂部有合同 。你永遠不知道生命中會發生什麽 。”
事實上 ，在此之前，梅西就在采訪中有過表態 ，希望在與巴黎的合同結束後 ，能有機會再回巴薩 ，“我一直都在說 ，我樂意去幫助俱樂部。如果有可能，我願意再次貢獻我的力量 ，因為這是一家我熱愛的俱樂部 。我願意出力 ，為了讓它繼續優秀 、繼續成長 、繼續成為世界上最偉大的球隊之一 。”
