巴西與阿根廷的南美少賽一場源自於原定於9月6日進行的巴阿大戰被迫延期，但以目前的区积骑绝積分情況來看 ，本場比賽除了有對於美洲杯決賽的分榜複刻或複仇意義外 ，對世預賽南美區的巴西積分格局影響不大 。
厄瓜多爾與烏拉圭同積16分 ，尘乌厄瓜多爾因為淨勝球優勢暫列第三 ，拉圭烏拉圭屈居第四 。迎生而哥倫比亞則以14分的南美成績暫列第五 。老牌勁旅巴拉圭目前積12分列第六 ，秘魯11分暫列第七。值得一提的是，最近幾年來頗為強勢的智利隊 ，在本屆預選賽中征程頗為坎坷 ，目前他們隻取得了1勝4平5負 ，積7分列第八 ，盡管賽程剛剛過半 ，但智利已經麵臨生死局麵 。
需要指出的是，在此後10月11日與10月15日的比賽中 ，烏拉圭將連戰阿根廷與巴西 ，且均為客場，這兩場比賽過後 ，這支球隊在積分榜上的形勢值得關注 。
