這一事件發生一天後 ，个教尼日利亞足協官方宣布，练组球隊主帥奧古斯丁-埃瓜文立即卸任。无缘同時 ，足協也同步終結了整個教練組 ，以及整個技術團隊的工作 。秘書長默罕默德-薩努西表示 ：“感謝教練團隊和技術團隊的工作人員為國家服務 ，並祝願他們未來一切都好 。”
尼日利亞足協還表示 ，將在經過恰當的程序後 ，宣布新的班子，指導球隊以新的麵貌來迎接新的挑戰 。
