北京時間5月11日，記者趙宇在個人社媒上發文談到了新賽季的模式中超賽製。他表示，后面恢复中超三個賽區已經定了，考虑分別是场制大連、梅州和海口，中超主客采取8+8+8+10的模式模式，後麵會考慮恢複主客場製。后面恢复

趙宇寫道：

中超6月初開打，考虑賽區分別是场制大連、梅州、中超主客海口，模式這個基本定了。后面恢复計劃踢滿34輪，考虑模式是场制8+8+8+10 ，前8輪在賽區封閉情況下進行，後麵再恢複主客場。考慮到比賽開始較晚、賽程緊密，前16輪很大可能都在賽區踢，中間會給球隊留出轉換賽區時間，但時間非常短，此後再根據具體情況考慮恢複主客場製的可能性。疫情下，中超開賽也受到了各種挑戰。
