在因凡蒂諾的两年新藍圖下 ，第一年是届世界杯计划届擴軍至24支球隊的世俱杯 ，第二年是失败包括歐洲杯 、美洲杯在內的为年洲際賽事 ，而第三年則將是世界杯 。因凡蒂諾表示 ：“做點什麽很重要 ，無論是兩年一屆世界杯還是三年一屆世界杯 。”
