馬內在自己的社交媒體上表示 ：“我要對我的好朋友凱塔和薩拉赫發送一條特別信息——有個值得遺憾的事情 ，我無法在決賽場上同時見到你們兩個 ，所以我隻能選擇對陣你們中的一個 。”
但是他同時還放出了“狠話” ，表示無論是對戰埃及還是幾內亞 ，塞內加爾都將以1-0奪取最終的冠軍 。馬內還說道 ：“祝你們好運 ，期待很快就能見到你們 。”
塞內加爾打入了上屆非洲杯的決賽 ，但是馬內所率領的這支勁旅，卻在決賽中0-1不敵阿爾及利亞遺憾錯失冠軍 。所以，曼城球星馬赫雷斯所率領的這支衛冕冠軍 ，才是塞內加爾真正的“大敵” 。
