但是他同時還放出了“狠話” ，表示無論是對戰埃及還是幾內亞，塞內加爾都將以1-0奪取最終的冠軍。馬內還說道 ：“祝你們好運 ，期待很快就能見到你們 。”
塞內加爾打入了上屆非洲杯的決賽，但是馬內所率領的這支勁旅，卻在決賽中0-1不敵阿爾及利亞遺憾錯失冠軍 。所以 ，曼城球星馬赫雷斯所率領的這支衛冕冠軍 ，才是塞內加爾真正的“大敵” 。
