10月6日 ，亞足聯通過官方渠道撰文 ，联官對卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區12強賽第3輪各隊的网中武磊關鍵球員分別作了一番判點 。具體到中國隊 ，国队亞足聯認為其關鍵人物仍是取分前鋒武磊 ，同時認為 ，仍靠中國隊欲改變境遇 ，胁性武磊的亚足發揮將起到舉足輕重的作用。
亞足聯稱 ，联官在本屆12強賽前兩輪比賽中 ，网中武磊由李鐵率領的国队中國隊未能將球打進澳大利亞隊 、日本隊的取分球門 ，甚至沒有完成一腳球門範圍內的仍靠射門 。不過，胁性武磊始終都是亚足中國隊攻擊線上最具威脅的球員 。亞足聯回憶稱：“在中國隊首輪與澳大利亞隊比賽中 ，武磊的一次小角度射門頗具威脅 ，可惜未能命中門框之內 。”
對於中國隊在12強賽的處境 ，亞足聯坦陳 ：“鑒於前兩輪比賽全敗的局麵 ，中國隊需要快速拿到積分 ，效力於西甲西班牙人隊的前鋒武磊對李鐵教練來說意義重大 。武磊在40強賽比賽中累計攻入8球 ，包括在最近4場比賽中攻入的5球 ，但他需要在12強賽中找到自己的射門靴 ，為中國隊建功 。”
