4輪12強賽過後 ，國足4戰1勝3負積3分排名小組第5 。本輪戰勝國足的沙特隊4戰全勝，以12分高居榜首 ，澳大利亞隊9分緊隨其後 。阿曼和日本本輪都贏得了比賽的勝利 ，積分都增加到6分，分列第3和第4名 。4戰皆敗的越南小組墊底 。
從目前的積分情況看 ，下輪國足與阿曼之戰 ，很可能是一場相當於6分價值的比賽。如果國足能夠戰勝阿曼 ，那麽出線形勢還有轉機。一旦落敗，意味著國足與小組前3名的積分差距將拉大到6分 ，追趕將變得非常困難 。
