雖然阿圭羅因為心髒原因無奈退役 ，但《TyC Sports》表示 ，阿根廷足協仍在計劃讓阿圭羅以另一種身份隨隊出征明年的卡塔爾世界杯 。據悉，阿根廷足協不願意就此放棄阿圭羅 ，他可能會以球隊職員或者是代表團成員的身份隨隊出征，類似於此前的貝克漢姆。
