As the world has become swept up in the Netflix docuseries Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, everyone is clamoring for more about the wild characters that make up the colorful world of questionable exotic animal zoos.
Luckily, producers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin told Entertainment Weeklythat there's plenty more footage and, because this is real life and many of the people involved are still around, the story is still ongoing and there could be more on the way.
"We have a crazy amount of footage and it's a story that's still unfolding," Chaiklin told EW. "We're not sure yet, but there could be a follow-up on this story because there's a lot that's still unfolding in it, and it'll be just as dramatic and just as colorful as what has unfolded these past few years."
Given the nature of the people that Tiger Kingfocuses on, namely Joe Exotic, Chaiklin noted that they were lucky with how much these people filmed themselves, so there's plenty to work with.
"As you can see in the series, there's a lot of archival material," she told EW. "And unlike other documentaries, our archival materials are almost 100 percent from people's personal archives. Which was a dream as filmmakers, that our subjects were so obsessed with filming themselves."
In talking about the series, the producers discussed their own feelings about the people in the exotic animal business that they focused on, including Joe Exotic's rival Carol Baskin.
"I think there's a lot of hypocrisy when it comes to Carol, and a lot of greenwashing," Goode told EW. "I think that what people should take away from the show and what one should do to protect tigers, in particular, big cats, is to support more programs in the wild."
It's a complicated subject because some people have varying ideas of what the best practices are for taking care of animals, and places that advertise themselves as "rescues" may not actually be doing the best things for these animals.

"I hate to say this, but the Humane Society rescues dogs or the ASPCA, and they humanely euthanize a lot of dogs and people sometimes take offense with that. But oftentimes that's the most humane thing to do, just humanely euthanize an animal rather than keeping them in a cage for the duration of its life. Carol keeps them in cages for the duration of their lives, and I'm not sure that's the right thing to do."
Baskin has received quite a bit of attention alongside Joe Exotic, and while this whole, dramatic story has been bubbling into the wider public over the last couple of years, there will certainly be more to eat up in the future even if there isn't a Season 2 of Tiger King. Saturday Night Livestar Kate McKinnon has already signed up to play Baskin in a limited series based on the podcast Joe Exotic, which is available to listen to now.
Tiger King is now streaming on Netflix.
