亞足聯在本月11日 、12日連續公布了今年亞冠聯賽小組賽以及延期後世預賽40強賽各個小組的承辦地，原本對獲得主辦權期望很高的伊朗可以說是“最大的輸家” ，不僅亞冠連一個小組賽的主辦權都未能獲得，甚至連40強賽小組賽的主辦權也旁落巴林 。伊朗各界在一致對外 、“炮轟”亞足聯與國際足聯 。
