12月26日晚上20點，练登中超爭冠組上演一場焦點對決，场郑廣州隊應戰北京國安。衔全先在賽前公布的华班首發名單中，廣州隊執行主教練鄭智的安挂名字赫然在列，這也是帅后首次本賽季鄭智掛帥後的首次先發出場。

隨著外援和一眾歸化球員的主教智领战国流失，廣州隊的练登整體實力大不如前。不過，场郑好在球隊底蘊深厚，衔全先隊中依舊有不少國腳級的华班球員支撐場麵，所以，安挂球隊的帅后首次戰鬥力依舊排在中超前列。

中超第一階段後，主教智领战国卡納瓦羅離任廣州隊主帥職位，鄭智成為球隊的執行主教練。第二階段此前的比賽，他一直在場邊指揮，並未出場。本賽季鄭智在第一階段為球隊出場過9場比賽，其中4次首發。

在本場比賽之前，廣州隊10勝5平3負積35分排名爭冠組第二，北京國安8勝4平6負積28分排名爭冠組第六。
