沙特媒體《Arriyadiyah》報道稱 ，科隆利雅得新月希望通過與莫德斯特簽約，欲索加強球隊的曝亚攻擊線 ，從而夢想在世俱杯與切爾西的冠冠购前高比賽中能夠淘汰對手 ，進入決賽 。军求
不過科隆方麵卻對利雅得新月的权健求購意向表示了拒絕 ，科隆方麵表示俱樂部無意出售莫德斯特 ，外援除非對方開出的莫德報價很有吸引力 ，科隆才會重新考慮 。
不過對沙特豪門來說 ，錢似乎並不是問題 。利雅得新月是去年的亞冠冠軍 ，他們在決賽中2-0擊敗了韓國球隊浦項製鐵 ，斬獲隊史第四座亞冠冠軍獎杯，同時他們也成為了亞冠曆史上首支4次奪冠的球隊 。利雅得新月曾在1991年 、2000年 、2019年和2021年分別奪得亞冠冠軍，此外 ，這支沙特球隊還曾四次獲得亞冠亞軍。
中國球迷對莫德斯特應該並不陌生 ，這名前權健外援被不少天津球迷稱為“叛徒球員” 。莫德斯特在2018年單方麵與權健解約後，返回科隆隊 ，不過並沒有坐穩球隊主力 ，去年一度被租借至法甲聖埃蒂安隊 ，但僅踢了7場聯賽就賽季報銷 。不過本賽季他回到科隆後卻找到了狀態，已經打入15球並有1次助攻 ，成為球隊鋒線上的主力人選 。（DD）
