本周二世界職業球員協會（FIFPro）證實了一個悲劇性的俄乌消息，兩名烏克蘭球員在目前的战争遭轰炸俄烏軍事衝突中不幸身亡 ，其中一人是首次丧生在和俄羅斯軍隊戰鬥時死亡 ，另一人則是人阵在家中遭遇轟炸 。
這兩名不幸身亡的亡人烏克蘭球員分別是21歲的維塔利-薩普埃羅和25歲的德米特羅-馬蒂能科。其中維塔利-薩普埃羅效力於喀爾巴阡利沃夫的家中青年隊，而德米特羅-馬蒂能科則效力於業餘俱樂部格斯托梅爾 ，俄乌並且曾獲得基輔地區第二級別聯賽的战争遭轰炸最佳球員和最佳射手獎 。
世界職業球員協會表示 ：“我們都和年輕的首次丧生烏克蘭球員維塔利-薩普埃羅、德米特羅-馬蒂能科 ，人阵以及他們的亡人家人 、朋友、家中隊友們同在 。俄乌他們是战争遭轰炸在這場俄烏戰爭中首次被報告喪生的足球運動員 。願他倆都能安息 。首次丧生”
喀爾巴阡利沃夫俱樂部隨後證實了維塔利-薩普埃羅的死訊 ，並發布聲明稱 ：“他是在2月25日在烏克蘭首都基輔附近和俄羅斯軍隊作戰時死亡。這位英雄會永遠留在大家的記憶中。”而基輔業餘聯賽協會則透露 ，德米特羅-馬蒂能科是在家中被炸彈轟炸後不幸身亡 ，同時他的母親也在家中被炸死 ，妹妹則在轟炸中受重傷 。
